Guide To Using The Medinet Filmhire Website

The website is interactive, responding to your requests to locate an item.

home

You can access items directly from the home page. Simply click on the large images to be taken to the catalogue, scenarios or period website pages.

A scrolling filmstrip of clickable images is presented with a selection of the latest items to be added to the collection. Clicking on any item wil take you directly to its box view.

You can search for an item - either by keyword or going to it directly by using its unique "Quick reference" number, which will jump from the Home Page to directly go to the item.

You may find an individual item, or lists of items, if you know it by name, use, trade mark or class by using the search page. Once you have selected an item, a box view appears with a fuller image and further options that allow you to widen the search, for example "View More Items" to see similar items.

scenarios

If you know where an item is used (e.g ITU) or you know what the item looks like but don't know its name, you may go to the scenarios page and select a scenario. Within the scenario, just click on a picture of the item. This will take you to a full image and description of the item in a box view.

catalogue

For ease of access, the catalogue page can be used to browse the Medinet Filmhire collection directly. Listings are available by:

First letter of the item name in alpahabetic order
Class, such as "Diagnostic Instrument", for a wider grouping
Department, which lists items associated with a particular medical department, such as "Outpatients"

Item Views

When an individual item has been selected, it will be displayed in a box view. This includes a fuller image and descriptive information. Associated items that would help build up a scene can be found by clicking on links under "Class", "Department", or "Sets".

Alternative views of an item are sometimes available, use "Alternative Views" where it is shown.

High Definition images are available for all items shown. These have to be requested individually and can be sent to your email address, simply click "Request Larger Image" and we will contact you to arrange supply of an image. Please note that these will only be supplied under a specific use licence and will be subject to restrictions as agreed at the time. Pricing for this image supply varies according to use and will be negoatiated separately at the time.
